The General Body meeting of the Indian Renaissance Institute, in short ‘IRI’,  was held at  Gandhi Peace Foundation, New Delhi on 28th and 29th January, 2017.

 Shri Ramesh Awasthi, Chairperson of the IRI, presided.

Following proceedings were taken:

(1) The minutes of the meeting of the Board of Trustees held on 14th Feb.2016 at New Delhi were confirmed.

(2)   N.D.Pancholi presented Secretary’s report which was approved.

(3)  Audited Accounts of IRI from 1st April 2015 till 31st March 2016 were presented and approved.

 Shri S.C.Varma, Treasurer informed that this year (from 1st April 2016) IRI had surmounted the previous year’s loss and was running into surplus of Rs.64,059/-.

(4)Future Management of the property 13 Mohini Road, Dehradun:

N.D.Pancholi,Secretary, gave details of the proceedings of the Appeal filed by late Shri  S.N.Puri at  Uttaranchal High Court at Nainital (Uttarakhand)  relating to the IRI property at 13 Mohini Road, Dehradun and informed that the next date was fixed in February,2017 and  case was likely to be finalized within 4/5 months.

(5) Publication and Circulation of the Radical Humanist:

(i)    It was decided that the members should make efforts to raise subscribers and donations for the journal.  The efforts of Shri Mahipal Singh in editing the journal ‘The Radical Humanist’ were appreciated.

(ii) It was decided that free copies of the journal should be sent to various university and college libraries, Students hostels, institutions, Bar associations and other institutions in India and abroad to popularize the journal and the humanist ideas.

(iii) Decision to appoint Mr. S.C.Varma as publisher and printer of ‘The Radical Humanist’ in place of  Mr. N.D.Pancholi   with publishing address  as A-1/103, Satyam apartments, Vasundhara Enclave, Delhi-110096 was approved. 

           

(6) .PUBLICATION OF THE HUMANIST LITERATURE AND M.N. ROY’S SELECTED WORKS

  Selected Works of Roy : Vth Volume :

            N.D.Pancholi  will finalize the final copy of the Vth Volume of Selected Works of M.N.Roy  within a period of about 6 months  and thereafter an eminent scholar/professor would   be approached for its editing.

(7)   M.N.Roy  Memorial Lecture: 21st March,2017

Secretary informed that M.N.Roy Memorial Lecture (2017)  would be delivered by Justice A.P.Shah former Chief Justice of Delhi High Court on 21st March, 2017  at  Speakers Hall, Constitutional Club, Rafi Marg, New Delhi.

(8)  Election of the Trustees :

Mr.  Ajit Bhattacharya proposed the names of following members to be

 elected trustees till the next term:  :               

  1. Mr. S.C.Jain
  2. Mr. Mahipal Singh
  3. Mr. S.C.Varma
  4. Mr. Nazimuddin
  5. Mr. Anjali Chakravarti

            Mr. N.D.Pancholi seconded. The above members were elected as ‘elected trustees unanimously.’

             Mr. Narottam Vyas proposed the name of  Mr. Vidya Sagar as elected trustee.      Shri  Ved Prakash Arya seconded it. Shri Vidya Sagar  was elected as ‘elected trustee’ unanimously.

(9)   Amendment in the Rules:

            Shri S.C.Varma  proposed that there should be created one more post of Vice Chairman, in addition to the one post of Vice- Chairman of the IRI.  Mr. Mahipal Singh seconded it .  It was therefore resolved that Rule 7(a)  of the Rules and Regulations of the IRI which is as follow at present :

                        “Rule 7(a) The Board of Trustees shall elect from among themselves

                                    one  Chairman, one Vice-Chairman,  one or more Secretaries,

                                    and  one Treasurer for attending to the day today  working of

                                    the Institute.” (as amended on 24th January,  2015 by including

                                    the word ‘Vice-Chairman’),

                        is amended as follows:

                                    “7(a)  The Board of Trustees shall elect  from among  themselves one Chairman,  two Vice- Chairmen,

                                    one or more secretaries, and one Treasurer for attending to

                                    the day today  working of the Institute.”

                        The resolution was unanimously adopted.
