Minutes of the Board of Trustees meeting of the IRI: 29th January, 2017 held at Gandhi Peace Founation, New Delhi
Meeting of the Board of Trustees took place immediately after the conclusion of the General Body meeting on 29th January, 2017 at Gandhi Peace Foundation, New Delhi.
Following trustees were present:
- Ramesh Awasthi

Following proceedings took place :
(1) ELECTION OF OFFICE BEARERS OF IRI :
Election of office bearers of the Institute took place in the following manner:
(i) Post of Chair- person
Shri Vinod Jain proposed the name of Shri Ramesh Awasthi for the post of Chair- person. Shri S.C.Varma seconded it.
Shri Ramesh Awasthi was elected unanimously as Chairperson of the Institute.
(ii) Post of Two Vice-Chairpersons:
Shri S.C.Varma proposed the names of Shri S.C.Jain and Shri N.D.Pancholi for the post of Vice-Chairperson. Shri Mahipal Singh seconded.
Shri S.C.Jain and Shri N.D.Pancholi were elected unanimously as the Vice- Chairpersons of the Institute.
(iii) Post of Secretary:
Shri Narottam Vyas proposed the name of Dr. Rekha Saraswat for the post of Secretary.
Shri Vinod Jain seconded it.
Dr. Rekha Saraswat was elected unanimously as Secretary of the Institute.
(iv) Treasurer:
Shri S.C.Jain proposed the name of Shri S.C.Varma for the post of Treasurer. Shri N.D.Pancholi seconded it.
Shri S.C.Varma was unanimously elected as Treasurer.
(2) Selection of co-opted Trustees:
The Board of trustees unanimously co-opted following members as ‘ co-opted trustees’ :
- Mr. G.Veranna
- Mr. Ved Prakash Arya
(3) Following decisions were taken:
(i) Shri N.D.Pancholi presented the list of following person who had applied to be members of the Institute for approval:
- Shri Chandrashekhar (Hyderabad)
- Dr.Shalu Nigam (Gurgaon )
- Prof. Shamsul Islam (Gurgaon )
- Neelima Sharma (Gurgaon )
- Anil Sinha (Delhi)
Application of the above persons to become the member of the Indian Renaissance Institute was approved.
(ii) ) “Programme Committee “:
A Programmee Committee was formed with following members:
- Vinod Jain –Co-ordinator
- Ramesh Awasthi
- Rekha Sarswat,
- Gautam Thaker
- Malthi Maitri
The purpose of the Committee would be to chalk out activities and programmes involving seminars, study camps, conferences on behalf of the IRI.
(iii) Publication Committee of IRI:
It was decided that the IRI should explore steps to print and publish Roy’s books and other humanist literature on its own without approaching the Book Publishers. For this purpose a committee was formed under the name of ‘IRI Publication Committee’ with following members:
- Rekha Saraswat – Convenor
- Vinod Jain
- Malthi Maitri
- G. Veeranna
- Rahul Jain
(iv) Research Committee:
A Research Committee was formed with the following persons:
- N.D.Pancholi – Convenor
- Rekha Saraswat
- Dr. Shalu Nigam
Research Committee will explore the possibilities of initiating research projects on various important social, economic and political issues.
(v) “Study Group on The Feasibility of political participation of the Radical Humanists and other like minded friends in electoral process” :
On the proposal of Shri Ajit Bhattacharya, a Study group was formed under the name of “Study Group on The Feasibility of political participation of the Radical Humanists and other like minded friends in electoral process” with following members :
1.Ajit Bhattacarya – Convenor
- Anil Sinha
- Anjali Chakravarti
- Shamsul Islam
President and Secretary to be the ex-officio members of this Committee.
(vi) Website of the Indian Renaissance Institute:
It was decided that website of The Indian Renaissance Institute under the name of ‘The Radical Humanist’ would be created.
(vii) Office of IRI and the Radical Humanist:
The arrangement of the functioning of the administrative office of the IRI and the Radical Humanist would continue to remain the same at the same place as at present i.e. F-6/625, Shalimar Garden Extension I, Sahibabad, Ghaziabad-201005.
(viii) Authorising Shri S.C.Varma to represent Indian Renaissance Institute in the appeal pending at Uttarakhand High court:
“Board of Trustees authorized Shri S.C.Varma, member, in addition to Shri N.D.Pancholi, to represent the Indian Renaissance Institute in place of Shri B.D.Sharma deceased, in the appeal No.FA-148/2001 pending in the Hon’ble Uttarakhand High court at Nainital filed by late Shri Surender Nath Puri.”
(ix) BANK ACCOUNT OPERATION:
Following resolutions were passed relating to operation of the bank account
(i) Resolution
“Resolved that as a result of the newly elected office bearers, the SB A/Cs No. 02070100005296 and 02070100005297 in UCO-Bank, Supreme Court Branch, New Delhi shall be operated by either two of the following office bearers:
(1) President : Mr Ramesh Awasthi
(2) Secretary : Dr. Rekha Saraswat
(3) Treasurer : Mr. S.C. Varma
(ii) Resolution
“Resolved that as a result of the newly elected office bearers, the Current A/C No. 0349201821034 , in Canara Bank, Maharani Bagh Branch, New Delhi in the name of ‘The Radical Humanist’, the monthly magazine of the Indian Renaissance Institute, shall be operated by either two of the following office bearers:
(1) President : Mr Ramesh Awasthi
(2) Secretary : Dr. Rekha Saraswat
(3) Treasurer : Mr. S.C. Varma
(iii) Resolutions regarding investments :

Resolved that address for receipt of cheques and other amounts in cash in the name of Indian Renaissance Institute and the Radical Humanist shall be the address of Shri S.C.Varma, trustee and Publisher i.e. A-1/103, Satyam apartments, Vasundhara Enclave, Delhi-110096.
Meeting ended with thanks to the chair.
(8) During conference following donations were received:

(iii) Mr. S.C.Varma : Rs.4500/- for IRI
